It is almost back to school time but not just for the kids. Check out the BGA course calendar for September 2018 – June 2019.

From introductory classes to more in-depth specialist training we have all of your gear training needs covered. Our courses are suitable for all sections of the Gearing community from students to apprentices starting out in their careers to experts wanting to hone their skill or get up to date with latest development. Most of our training is CPD Accredited contributing to your professional development.

September 11th 2018: BGA Primary Gears Work Shop

Price: Free to BGA Members

Developed for the BGA by STEM education and outreach specialists at Northumbria University, the BGA Primary Gears workshop supports the Primary National Curriculum for science.

It offers an opportunity for engineers and technicians to build links with their local communities, develop their communication skills and make a positive contribution to children’s engineering knowledge.

A bespoke training session is available to assist BGA members in acquiring and honing the skills necessary to deliver the BGA Primary Gears workshop successfully.

The training includes:

  • Introduction and discussion of where gears are in the national curriculum.
  • Detailed practice of the session delivery.
  • Classroom management techniques to ensure the session runs smoothly.
  • The practicalities of getting into schools.
  • Unconscious bias and strategies for improving gender diversity in engineering.
  • Advice and coaching on performance and delivery style.
  • All the printed, construction and presentation materials needed to deliver the workshop to a class of 30.

 February 12th 2019: ATEX Gear Drive Systems for End Users

Price: £202.50 to BGA Members

This 1 Day Training Course is aimed at manufacturers/end users of Gear Drive Systems.

The training includes:

    • The ATEX Product and Workplace Directive (including DSEAR)
    • Retrospective Ignition Risk Assessment (Existing/Old Equipment)
    • Topical discussions regarding generic gear drive designs/systems

 

  • Brief insight into the principles of EN 80079-36, -37 & -38 (formerly EN 13463 series)
  • (Non-electrical equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres)
  • Brief insight into a Non-electrical Technical File format (Including basic guidance pack)

 

February 13th 2019: ATEX – Gearbox Manufacture

Price: £202.50 to BGA Members

1 DAY ATEX OVERVIEW – INTRODUCTION TO POTENTIALLY EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERES & NON-ELECTRICAL PROTECTION TECHNIQUES, FOR GEAR DRIVE MANUFACTURERS

This 1 day bespoke course is for manufacturers of Gear Drive Systems that are new to the subject area of non-electrical equipment intended for use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres (Hazardous Areas), in accordance with the ATEX Product Directive 2014/34/EU.

The training includes:

  • The ATEX Product Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX Product directive overview / Essential Safety Requirements / Equipment Groups and Categories / Gas Groups and temperature classes / Methods of protection and associated standards / Equipment Markings / Certification / IECEx an alternative to ATEX for international sales.
  • Non-electrical Protection Concepts, including topical discussions regarding generic gear drive designs/systems
  • Components, Equipment, Assemblies & Protective Systems (Understanding: ‘Assembly’ of ‘Ex’ Certified Equipment)
  • Insight into EN 80079-36, -37 & -38 (formerly EN 13463 series) ~ Non-electrical equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres
