DIGITAL GEARS 2020.

The British Gear Association is the UK Centre of Technical Excellence for gear design, manufacture & application technologies. The Annual Technical Awareness Event (GEARS) is the leading conference for the Gear Industry in the UK and this long running seminar is considered an essential event for manufacturers, distributors and academics involved in the UK Gears Industry.

For the first time in our history this event will be held online from 17th – 20th November 2020.

The Covid 19 crisis has affected the way we work forever especially in terms of travel and attending large events. In response to this we are embracing the opportunity to bring GEARS to a wider audience by hosting the event digitally meaning delegates can attend from anywhere in the world from the comfort of their own desk/sofa.

As with traditional GEARS conferences the online event features cutting edge interactive lectures and presentations from pre-eminent experts from leading companies, manufacturers, distributors and academics from throughout the Gear and Power Transmission Industry.

About the sessions.

Each day will focus on one area of the power transmission sector and you can attend all week or specific days or sessions.

Each session will consist of a 30-minute presentation (available for preview prior to the event when possible) followed by a live Question and Answer session with the speaker.

A full agenda for each day will be posted in September 2020.

Registration for GEARS.

Attendance to Digital GEARS 2020 is completely free of charge to BGA Members

Non members can attend the first day of GEARS completely free of charge – subsequent days are charged at £100 per day.

Registration to the event will open soon.

Call for Papers.

Each year the BGA’s Technical Awareness Seminar provides an outstanding forum to share ideas with others on all aspects of power transmission technology. This is your opportunity to present your work to an audience of knowledgeable professionals from the UK and abroad and to participate in discussions with that audience.

Ideally, papers (or an extended abstract and a presentation when appropriate) should be original to the UK audience but previously presented material may be accepted at the discretion of the Gears 2020 Chairman. Your material should be technically accurate, relevant to power transmissions technology and free of commercialism.

Some suggested application areas include:
– Manufacturing & Processing
– Quality Control and Inspection
– Applications & Case Histories
– Condition Monitoring
– Materials
– Design Analysis & Methods

You are invited to submit a brief Abstract as a Word or PDF file of no more than one page in length to admin@bga.org.uk
Deadline for submission is 23rd September 2020.
