Today, ESR Technology is a vibrant and growing owner-managed SME with 70 staff, most of who are based in Birchwood Park, Warrington, with offices in Milton Park, Oxfordshire, Aberdeen and the USA too.

We provide many different industries with independent and specialist technical and engineering consultancy and services and we operate three renowned centres of excellence; the European Space Tribology Laboratory (ESTL), the National Centre of Tribology (NCT) and HOIS, a joint-industry project improving non-destructive testing in the oil & gas industry. We also have our highly regarded Safety and Risk Management group.

ESR Technology grew out of nuclear R&D in the 1960’s and 1970’s, when core strengths and capabilities were diversified to solve problems for customers who operate in other challenging environments.

Our specialisms include tribology, the science and engineering of friction, wear and lubrication, non-destructive testing methods and our high quality quantified risk assessments. We offer tribological, materials, test and safety-based solutions to a wide variety of institutional and commercial clients across the globe, for satellites and submarines and everything in between!
