JOINT BGA IMECHE STUDENT PRIZE.

ABOUT THE PRIZE


The joint BGA IMechE student prize has been established since 2000 and is considered one of the most prestigious Student prizes in the field of Mechanical Engineering.


The goal of the prize is to encourage and support the growth of the next generation of UK engineers

The prize is awarded for the best Final Year Project on any topic broadly related to the field of mechanical power transmissions.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

In order to register, application forms for individual or team projects completing in summer 2025 must be sent to the British Gear Association by 30th August 2025.


A copy of the completed project report (in Word or pdf format) will be required by 30th September 2025.

NB. Please note that projects for HND/HNC, BEng/BSc, MEng or MSc will be accepted and the judges will apply suitable weightings to take account of the different qualification levels.


WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

All submitted papers will be read by our panel of industry judges and a winner will be announced January 2026.


The winner of the joint BGA IMechE student prize will be invited to present their paper at Gears 2026.
