Wow! Cutting Edge Technical Awareness Day Success

This week we held a Joint BGA and Transmission Dynamics Technical Awareness Day – Wednesday 9th April at their state-of-the-art facility in Cramlington. Thank you to Jarek and his team for opening their doors to give members an insight into this creative space he’s created for problem solving.

Thank you too to our delegates who made the journey up north (with some very challenging road conditions due to a major incident on the A1 – which thankfully no one was involved in).

The street aptly named ‘Innovation Way’ led the way to an impressive built to spec facility. Members received cutting edge presentations from a team of presenters from various roles across the business. Technical Presentations included:

  • Introduction to Gearbox Diagnostics and Troubleshooting (Gears, shafts, bearings, couplings)

  • How AI advancements and edge processing technologies are shaping the future of industries (ML, RAG, LLM)

  • The future of gearbox technology (real-time monitoring with edge processing, predictive maintenance, fault diagnostics, etc).

The day ended with the group splitting into two to receive a tour of the facilities – the factory floor, test labs and offices. I cannot express how impressed I was seeing the team in action, problem solving a variety of client problems, seeking solutions to a diverse range of industries.

Lunch and refreshments were provided. Colleague welfare is important at Transmission Dynamics -  Jarek has a BBQ and Pizza Oven and on Fridays staff can enjoy homemade food and nice weather at their break times. Today he was flipping gourmet burgers for us and delegates got the opportunity to network face to face – an important offering here at the BGA in addition to all the virtual events we offer.

I was so impressed; I think we’ll be seeing if we can arrange a second day in the near future!

Watch this space….

Jarek is a tutor to two of our courses – Virtual Gearbox Systems, Problems and Solutions (last held March 2025) and the forthcoming Virtual Gear Noise Data Interpretation and Diagnostics on 30th April and 1st May.

If you have any questions about this event or would like to host a Technical Awareness Day within your company or if you’re not already a BGA member – please don’t hesitate to get in touch admin@bga.org.uk
